Danielle Beckmann (Shelly) is just delighted to be doing another production with Literally Alive at the Player's Theatre. In 2010 she played Bernice, the wicked step-sister in Cinderella. Danielle is a Southern California native and she receed her BFA in Theatre Performance from Chapman University in Orange img County. Erik Fletcher (King Neptune) Eric is thrilled to be a part of this production. You may remember him from A Christmas Carol (Marley), The Selfish Giant (Selfish Giant), Stone Soup (Soldier 2), Treasure Island (Liam), Beauty and the Beast (Beast), or The Velveteen Rabbit (Jack) here at the Players Theatre. Eric most recently played the Phantom in Sgouros & Bell's Phantom of the Oper a. BFA in Theatre Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University. Jovanni Guzman (Prince) was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Always had a passion for the performing arts since he can remember. Hobbies include watching movies, listening to music and playing with puppies. Attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA). Brianna Hurley (Fish Witch) is delighted to join the cast of The Little Mermaid. Yuka Ibi (Dancer) was born and raised in Hyogo, Japan. She is very excited to make her Off-Broadway debut with this wonderful team on The Little Mermaid! She was most recently featured in The Heights Players production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado. Previously, she performed at The American College Dance Festival 2009 and was a featured dancer in Snow Dance Unplugged. Jenna Lipe (Coral) is so excited to be joining this production after just finishing her musical theatre training right around the corner at NYU (CAP21). Some favorite past roles include Olive in The 25th Annual…Spelling Bee, Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and the Tree in a new musical adaptation of The Giving Tree. Kayleigh Shuler (Dancer) is so excited to be a part of this beautiful adaptation of The Little Mermaid. Off-broadway: A Christmas Carol (Fan), Phantom of the Opera, A New Musical (Lulu the ballerina). Regional: High School Musical (Sharpay). Community Theater: Little Shop of Horrors (Crystal), South Pacific (Ngana), and has recently been cast as the role of Christine Colgate in the ACT production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! Kayleigh has received formal voice training from Diane Tauser for 5 the past years, and has been dancing for 12 years. She enjoys theater, photography, tea, and spending time with her family and friends. Jillian Severin (Pearl) is a graduate of Wagner College, where she received a B.A in Theatre Performance and Speech. Favorite roles include Polly Peachum in "Three Penny Opera", Marcy in "Dog Sees God", Dolly Tate in "Annie Get Your Gun", and Cinderella in "Into the Woods". Jillian's first love is Opera, having studied at Eastman School of Music where she received a certificate of advanced achievement in voice. She continues to study voice privately. She has also recently found a love for tv/film having taken classes at ESPA and hopes to make her mark on the big screen some day soon.
Olivia Greco had an amazing time being a part of last year's A Christmas Carol, and is thrilled to be back with Literally Alive. She has been a competitive dancer for six years with North Shore Performing Arts Center and has been dancing since she was three at her family's studio, Mildred Scilla School of Dance. Olivia is sixteen and when she isn't dancing, she loves singing, acting, and hanging out with friends. Olivia would like to thank her parents, friends, and dance teachers for all the support. She couldn't have done it without you!
Myla Marino is thrilled to be a part of another Literally Alive cast and would like to thank Stephanie, Brenda and Marci for this exciting opportunity. Myla was recently featured at The Players Theater as Ignorance in Literally Alive's A Christmas Carol this past holiday. She also appeared as Young Christine in Phantom of the Opera by Brenda Bell & Michael Sgouros, and debuted as a "footmouse" in Literally Alive's Cinderella. Other recent NYC stage credits are at the Amore Opera with highlighted appearances in Die Fledermaus, La Tosca, The Merry Widow, La Bohemme and Hansel & Gretel. Myla is 10 years old and loves the thrill of performing. In her free time she enjoys her Italian heritage cooking, dancing, reading, spending time with friends and playing with her yorkie puppy Mia. Eve O'Brien is thrilled to be in The Little Mermaid and thanks Stephanie, Marci and Literally Alive for this amazing opportunity. Eve made her Off-Broadway debut in Literally Alive's A Christmas Carol. Eve started studying with Marci at age 7 and has appeared in the following Little Fig Stage productions: Alice in Wonderland, Jr. (White Rabbit), Into the Woods, Jr., Beauty and the Beast, Jr. (Babette), Broadway Disneyland, Yankee Doodle Boy (Young George M. Cohen), and Suessical, Jr. (Mrs. Mayor). Eve is currently in rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof. Eve is 11 and enjoys singing, acting, dancing and spending time with friends.
Mira Jayne Shuler is 10 years old and was born in Oneonta, NY and raised in Bainbridge, NY. She made her premier at the Players Theatre last spring as Young Christine in Be Bold's production of Phantom of the Opera and has appeared in the Maryland PBS film "Anuna: Christmas Memories". She has been studying at the School of American Ballet for 3 years, and has performed in NYCB's The Nutcracker and The Magic Flute. She been dancing for 8 years have been doing theater for 4 years. She enjoys dancing, coloring, and being with my best friends.
Literally Alive™ is a NYC -based children's theatre company that produces original musicals based on classic children's literature, which comes to life onstage. In addition to a full professional production, families can participate in a pre-show arts workshop.
We are in residence at the Players Theatre located at 115 MacDougal Street in the heart of Greenwich Village. Now in our 11th season, previous productions have included "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid", "The Velveteen Rabbit", "Beauty and the Beast", Oscar Wilde's "The Selfish Giant", "Stone Soup","Treasure Island","Cinderella" and "A Christmas Carol".
Brenda Bell (Playwright/Producing Artistic Director/Midge/Caroler): Ms. Bell started Literally Alive Children's Theatre in 1999 and has written the book and lyrics for each production. Legend has it that she produced her first show at age 6 when the summer proved to be too boring. She wrote and produced shows for theatre legends including Mickey Rooney, Jamie Farr, Van Johnson, Mimi Hines and Frank Gorshin. Her writing credits also include "Reading is Cool" for RIF. She would like to thank the Players Theatre for providing the perfect home for her whimsy and always encouraging her to be bold!
Michael Sgouros (Composer/Music Director) has served as composer for the New York productions of The Selfish Giant, Treasure Island, Stone Soup, A Christmas Carol, Cinderella and Phantom of the Opera (Sgouros/Bell). He is music director of the Off-Broadway show Percussion People and has worked professionally as drummer /percussionist with Eartha Kitt, Mandy Patinkin, Michael Rupert, Bernadette Peters, Martin Short, Danny Aiello, Michael Kamen, Alison Janney, Laura Linney, Jake Weber and Richard Thomas. A gradute of the Juilliard School, Mr. Sgouros has been honored by the National Foundation of the Arts and currently is director of the percussion program at Molloy College.
Stefanie Smith (Director) is very excited to make her directing debut in this production. She has been Literally Alive's choreographer and company member since 2006. Her favorite roles include, Meg Giry (Phantom), Nadine (Cinderella), Shelly (Little Mermaid), and Jim Hawkins (Treasure Island). Stefanie is currently teaching dance at Encore and choreographer/co-director at Little Figstage Theatre in Westchester. KeriAnne Murphy (Stage Manager): KeriAnne Murphy was born in Bronxville , NY and grew up in Weschester, NY. She graduated from John Jay High School -Cross River '04 and from SUNY Plattsburgh 08'. Her Stage Management credits include many productions while attending SUNY Plattsburgh; College Light Opera Company 07- Falmouth, MA, Hair 09' -The Theatre Project; The Dining Room 10' The Theatre Project; 4.48 Psychosis 10'- The Theatre Project. She has also worked as Lighting Designer, Director, Producer and Production Manager. KeriAnne was the Production Administration Intern at Glimmerglass Opera, Cooperstown , NY in Summer 06' and recently was a FringeNYC Venue Director. Besides being the Stage Manager for The Little Mermaid, KeriAnne also serves as House Manager for Play Dead and is the Executive Director of The Theatre Project.
Chantel George (Assistant Stage Manager) is excited to join the Literally Alive team again for her second production working backstage! She is excited to be training and learning the ropes as the assistant stage manager. Currently a student at New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, as an acting major. Recently been apart of The Happiness Compartment (NYCDA), Lady Windemere's Fan (SBS), Oliver! (SBS), and The Tempest (SBS). She also works as a freelance hairstylist and loves her life!
Dylan Uremovich (Assistant Stage Manager) recently migrated to New York City from Arizona having earned a degree in Theatre from Northern Arizona University. He is a theatrical designer, technician, stage manager, actor, and sometime producer. Recent credits include electrician for The Public Theater's Compulsion, lighting design of Odyssey for Zephyer Rep, and appearance as Orlando in Brelby Theatre Company's As You Like It. Currently he is stage managing a reading of Pick-Up Artist: The Musical.
Marci Elyn Schein (Vocal Coach) is thrilled to be working on her 5th production with Brenda Bell and Michael Sgouros and is grateful to them for trusting her with their 'babies'. She was Carlotta in Bell and Sgouros's Phantom, The Real Story. As a performer in all of the disciplines in theatre is also a stage director (over 50 shows), teacher of Cabaret and Musical Theatre, private voice teacher and a workshop leader in monologue and song audition technique. She has taught music and theatre in public and private schools as well as conducting professional adult and children's choirs. Marci has starred Off Broadway as well as producing 4 off Broadway shows at The Players Theatre including a benefit concert, which included new songs from Bobby Lopez (Avenue Q) Tom Kitt (Next To Normal) and Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family) which helped to raise over $4000.00 for BC/EFA. Most recently performed with Lou Soloff (Blood, Sweat & Tears) for a charity event and has performed with many Jazz and Broadway legends in NYC. Christian Amato - Scenic & Puppetry Designer - is a Bronx Native graduating from Plattsburgh State University this upcoming May with degrees in both Theatre and Art. Regionally, he has directed Dog Sees God, Reefer Madness, Hair!, & The Dining Room. Off-Broadway Christian re-adapted and directed Sarah Kane's final play, 4.48 Psychosis. Christian is the Founding Artistic Director of The Theatre Project, which the West Villager has acclaimed as an "Adventerous New Company." Currently he is developing a modern interpretation of Sophocles' play Ajax. Britton Matthews (Percussion): Britton Matthews is an established freelance percussionist active in contemporary chamber music across the US, specializing in keyboard and contemporary orchestral percussion. Britton is the principal percussionist of the critically-acclaimed Metropolis Ensemble and Lost Dog New Music Ensemble, and she is a member of Exit 9 Percussion Group. She previously served on the faculty of the Wharton Music Center in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, and is currently a teaching artist with Bravissimo Music Tutoring in New York. Britton received her Master of Music degree from Rutgers University, and her Bachelor of Music from Baylor University.
